Quatrefolic® Fine Powder
Imagine the power of Quatrefolic®, the innovative ACTIVE folate, in a new versatile form offering a finer and narrower particle size distribution of the raw material. That is what customers can expect from Quatrefolic® Fine Powder! Opening new formulation opportunities that will meet consumer demand for innovative on-the-go applications.
Over the other calcium kinds of reduced folate, it has the unique advantage of being dispersed and/or emulsified in lipophilic matrices formulations, stable over time without the risk of sedimentation. Liquid oily and suspension applications, such as traditional soft gels, are the perfect dosage forms for Quatrefolic® Fine Powder, but that is far from all brand owners can expect.

Innovation Opportunities to Eliminate Folate Deficiency
Folate deficiency represents one of the most common nutritional deficiencies and may occur when dietary intake is inadequate when an increased need is not matched by an increased intake. Dietary folate is ideal, but food preparation often reduces folate levels, making supplementation a viable and necessary alternative.
Quatrefolic® Fine Powder offers a great solution to hot-topic trends, designed to enable innovative technological applications where a finer particle is essential for better release of the ingredient and more accurate homogeneity of the delivery form.
Why Folate Over Folic Acid?
Folate is the generic term for vitamin B9, a water-soluble vitamin that includes chemically similar compounds essential in periods of rapid cell growth and division, critical for maintaining new cells and making DNA and RNA. It also helps support cognition while protecting against cardiovascular risk through its balancing of homocysteine levels.
Recent data suggest the need to distinguish between naturally occurring folates and folic acid, terms often mistaken and used interchangeably, both by practitioners and consumers, causing considerable confusion.
Folic acid must undergo conversion to its active form , 5-MTHF, a process mediated by the enzyme methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR). However, nearly half of the global population has a genetic variant that can impair this process, resulting in sub-optimal amounts available for use.
The biologically active 5-MTHF is the preferred solution for supplementation as it is readily available for transport and use in the human body. It avoids the production of unmetabolized folic acid, making it particularly suitable for people with MTHFR polymorphism, maximizing folate benefits, and allowing a greater population of consumers to receive its benefits.
