The new number of Quatrefolic® Science UP, dedicated to fertility and the critical role of folate and homocysteine in the early stages of human reproduction, has been just released.
Women and men experiencing fertility issues can present low folate availability, often linked to the presence of methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) polymorphism.
The leaflet describes in an easy and dynamic way why folate is indispensable during the periods of rapid cell growth and proliferation, and why insufficient folate status may be correlated to increase blood homocysteine levels and the factors related to the pathogenesis of fertility disorders.
Quatrefolic® does not require metabolism of MTHFR enzyme to provide the right active folate: it is ready to enter human metabolism and, if necessary, normalizes homocysteine plasma levels.
This action is supported by two different studies described in the leaflet:
– Servy et al. where 33 couples with recurrent miscarriages – most of these women previously treated unsuccessfully with high doses of folic acid (5 mg/day) – were investigated after a treatment with Quatrefolic® supplements: the overall ongoing pregnancy rate increase of +86.7% pregnancy;
– Clement et al. where 89 couples with a history of repeated miscarriages (>3), were tested for MTHFR polymorphism and treated for at least 3 months with Quatrefolic® with a normalizing effect of Hcy levels.
A further evidence that choosing the right folate, such as Quatrefolic®, can make a difference, bypassing folate metabolism disturbances, improving male and female fertility and increasing success rates in infertility treatment.
