On May 7th, Complementary Medicines Australia (CMA) hosted its Innovation Day, where we were proud to see our key ingredients, MenaQ7® (Vitamin K2 as MK-7) and Quatrefolic® (Active Folate ), prominently featured.
MenaQ7® is essential for cardiovascular and bone health. It plays a crucial role in blood coagulation, aiding in the production of prothrombin and other coagulation factors. Moreover, Vitamin K2 helps prevent calcium deposition in blood vessel walls, reducing arterial stiffness. For bone health, it is involved in the production, activation, and carboxylation of osteocalcin, which is vital for calcium transport, homeostasis, and bone mineralization. Recent research also highlights its additional functions in energy metabolism, antioxidant properties, anti-inflammatory effects, immunomodulation, and brain signaling, showing potential benefits for conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, depression in women with PCOS, and Alzheimer’s disease.
Quatrefolic® is the biologically active form of folate, known as 5-MTHF, and is crucial for numerous cellular processes. It is involved in one-carbon metabolism, methylation, amino acid metabolism, cell growth, DNA repair, and the re-methylation of homocysteine to methionine. Folate deficiency can lead to megaloblastic anemia, peripheral neuropathy, cardiovascular diseases, hyperhomocysteinemia, depression, and cognitive dysfunction. Quatrefolic® is especially beneficial for individuals with an MTHFR polymorphism, as it bypasses the need for conversion to the active form, ensuring optimal utilization by the body.
